Like most people, I was physically active when I was young and played one or more sports.
Then came the “productive years,” and I put work ahead of everything else. That was my life, too. After losing my father, and because of the circumstances of his passing, I decided to have a thorough medical checkup.
The cardiologist’s words were:
“You are doing well today. I cannot say the same about tomorrow if you continue with those habits.”
My wife asked me, “What would it take for you to stop smoking and leave those unhealthy habits behind?” My answer was, “Getting back to the mountains!”
I went to the gym, ran and headed into the mountains, and everything was going well. Then the pandemic arrived and, as it did for everyone, it changed our lives. I began studying and earning certifications so I could help us train—we needed to stay fit. We moved to Puebla to be closer to the mountains, and because we were well prepared, we climbed one of them every week.
That was when I realized I could help more people reach their goals, just as we had reached ours. So I decided to enter the world of fitness, coaching and personal training. Today, the people I have coached are my best references!
The mountains are a fundamental part of my personal and professional journey. Mountaineering and my experience as a Mountain Guide have strengthened my physical preparation, risk management, decision-making and teamwork.
I have more than 1,000 hours of mountain experience, primarily on Mexico’s volcanoes. After four months of training Sofía, my wife, we completed the challenge of climbing five summits in five days. According to several mountain guides, we were the first couple aged 45 and over to achieve it.
My experience with the Ice & Rock team is part of this high-altitude journey and complements my approach to wellbeing, discipline and preparing for new challenges.

A year of working together, with an incredible change, both physically and mentally! I truly want to thank you for all the work, support and that push when I needed it most—the one that kept me from giving up. And let’s not forget the extra shot of coffee!
Finishing third nationally in equestrian sport was no coincidence: it was the result of your training, of your believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself and, above all, of your never failing to look out for me, physically and mentally.
Here’s to more! 💪🏻
